GameBCN – Week 2: The Road Ahead

It’s a known fact in the videogame industry that the most difficult part in a project is actually finishing it and releasing. But beginning ain’t no walk in the park! This week was a total metaphor: we began working on the first map of our revamped videogame, Tower Revenge. And working on that little map and it’s path was as hard as planning the work and goals for the upcoming 3 months and a half. It’s not only the amount of work and the skill challenges ahead. We also have to deal with each other. Each of us has it’s own personal approach on how the game should be, on how we should work, on the tools and methods, even our own philosphy towards the industry. And getting each other to look forward in the same direction is hard work […]

GameBCN – Week 1: It All Begins

November 7. The GameBCN began. The ultimate videogames incubation initiative in Barcelona, Spain.  And CORSEGAMES won a spot to participate. I’ll be posting my experiences from my position of Art Director during the following 4 months every weekend in my blog, along with development commentary on our upcoming mobile videogame: TOWER REVENGE. A little background It’s kind of difficult to make this brief, but here it goes: This project began as a very vague idea 2 years ago, something about a mobile multiplayer tower defense. Fall of 2012, Mateo Pereira, Gonzalo Orts and me shook hands for the very first time at a Starbucks in Passeig de Gracia. How could we ever imagine that over a year later we would be working hard on our videogame at the Starbucks in the lobby of the Marriot Hotel in sunny and techy San […]

Back Online

So, last wednesday my now ex-hosting provider, globat.com, had a screw-up with their handling of my databases and basically destroyed them forever. And for some reason they could never explain to me (and my programmer friends couldn’t figure out either) all my healthy database backups didn’t work when replaced. When I contacted them they just repeated time after time in that typical corporate speech: “sorry for the inconvenience sir, you’ll have to manually rebuild your website. Regards”. Well yes I did, but on another hosting company! It was very stressful, since I’m no programmer and having my portfolio down while having to figure out how databases work was driving me insane. But I did it! And now my domains are being transferred to my new hosting provider. So everything’s OK now 🙂 Lesson learned: No matter if your website is […]

Tu Carrera: ¿Máquina de una habilidad o Aventurero de muchas?

Llevo días sintiendo una culpa enorme. Dándole vueltas y vueltas a una cuestión en mi cabeza. Y entonces me encuentro ahi. No me detengo. Y el coche en el que voy va cada vez mas rápido, mejora, pero no tanto como otros. No pasa nada. Así es la vida. ¿Pero y si miro al pasado y trato de analizar por qué resultó asi? Bueno, […]

W.T.O. ! Stands for: Working Times Optimization!

Dear clients and associates, It’s a pleasure to adress to you. Last year and specially this one have been full of hard work and amazing results. Together we’ve been mixing business and creativity to bring bold, new ideas to the market. A part of those great results is that the amount of work actually multiplies and keeps coming! And as every growing business, milestones and checkpoints should exist and some adjustments should be made to make sure that everything will be even better for the upcoming projects.
